Born in Vienna, Austria

Lives and works in Brooklyn, NYC

Born in Vienna, Austria, I live and work in Brooklyn, New York. My early studies in art and philosophy at the University of Vienna—where I earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Philosophy and Art History—shaped a lasting interest in perception, interior life, and the question of how meaning takes form. With the support of a university stipend, I moved to the United States to study painting at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, where I later received a diploma and was invited to participate in the New York Studio Residency Program, prompting my move to New York in 1999.

My work has been shown in solo exhibitions including Closer at SLA Gallery, New York; Beyond the Pale at 31Grand Gallery, New York; and Zauberhaft at the Museum of St. Valentin in Austria. Recent group exhibitions include Painting the Figure Now at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Wausau, Wisconsin; A Daze of Roses at Mitsuma and Kips, New York; In It for the Long Haul at LichtundFire, New York; and At Face Value at Station Independent in Toronto, which was reviewed by WhiteHotMagazine, ArtDaily, ArtPlugged, and ARTORONTO.CA. My work is held by the Museum of St. Valentin, where I was also selected to contribute to a permanently installed public art project.

Across these experiences, painting remains for me a way of listening inward—of connecting to a higher potential, questioning inherited roles and norms and their emotional weight, and attending to moments of rupture and transition where new potential and the possibility of a different reality begin to take shape.
